I won 3rd place out of 1200 entrants to the Readers Digest, “Made in America” photo contest for my photo of Jonesborough, Tennessee!
I had this day down on my calendar for a good deal of the year. I had used The Photographers Ephemeris to see what day the sun would set directly down Main Street in Jonesborough. This happened to be Christmas tree lighting day as well, so I stuck around for that too. 🙂
Brrr…it was about 15 degrees F with a on and off heavy wind, so it was probably 0 with the wind at times. Chilly! My breath was frosting up the back of the camera!

Jonesborough Train
Speeding train through Jonesborough, Tennessee during the National Storytelling Festival (see the little tent flags above the bed of the train car blur?)
The train is a running joke/nuisance at the Festival because they won’t tell you their schedule for “security” reasons and are quite loud and run past two of the tents that the stories are told in, so the storyteller will have to pause for a couple minutes while the train passes. Some have come up with little “bits” to fill the time as well.
